RAWALPINDI: Chief of Army Staff (COAS) General Raheel Sharif Thursday dismissed 11 senior military officers, including a Lieutenant General and a Major General, over their involvement in corruption, Samaa reported. In an unprecedented and unusual action, the army chief terminated services of Lt. Gen. Obaid Ullah Khattak, Maj. Gen. Ijaz Shah, five brigadiers, three colonels and one major. General Raheel Sharif telephones IG Sindh; vows to eliminate terrorists KARACHI: Chief of Army Staff (COAS) General Raheel Sharif telephoned IG Sindh Police, Allah Dino Khawaja and express grief over martyrdom of seven policemen in Wednesday’s brazen attack in Karachi, Samaa reported Thursday. Our correspondent said, the army chief, in his telephonic conversation, deplored the loss of lives in terrorist attack and extended his full cooperation to Sindh police. “Terrorists will be eliminated from provinces. Police will be assisted everywhere and at every level,” officials quoted the army chief as saying. Bus blast kills at least 15 in Peshawar PESHAWAR: A blast ripped through a bus carrying government employees on Wednesday killing at least 15 and wounding 28 another in Peshawar, Samaa reported Wednesday The explosion took place this morning near Gharbi Police Station in Saddar, a busy shopping district, as the bus was picking up government workers to take them to their offices. At least 15 people were killed and 28 others were wounded, police and rescue officials said.a

Another power outage hits Karachi KARACHI: Tripping of a main transmission line in Karachi on Friday morning left most the city areas without power, Samaa reported. “The current power disruption is caused by tripping in the extra high tension line, which has affected a few grid stations,” according to the K-Electric.

Suicide Blast in Shabqadar Kills Eight SHABQADAR: At least eight people, including two policemen, were killed and more than 15 people others wounded when a blast ripped through a busy market in Charsadda tehsil of Khyber Pakhtunkhwa, Samaa reported Monday. Police claimed that it was a suicide attack that occurred outside a local court in Shabqadar, a small town in Charsadda tehsil nearly 30 kilometres from Peshawar. Deputy Commissioner Tahir Zafar unconfirmed that eight people, among them two policemen, have been martyred.

Mustafa Kamal forms New Political Party KARACHI: Mustafa Kamal, former Karachi mayor and ex-MQM leader, has announced to form a new political party, which he said is unnamed for now, Samaa reported. “We, Mustafa Kamal and Anees Qaimkhani, are forming a new organization or you may say a party or whatever you want to call it,” he said, adding “we have not named our organization for now”. Blast near FC vehicle kills 8 in Quetta QUETTA: At least eight people were killed and several others were wounded when a bomb went off near a security vehicle close to Liaquat Park in Quetta on Saturday, officials said. Three FC personnel were among those who were killed in the attack. Heavy firing was also heard in the area following explosion . Three police were reportedly injured in the attack. Rescue teams and law enforcement agencies reached the scene and cordoned off the area. Anwar ul Haq, a spokesman for the Balochistan government, confirmed the martyrdom of FC men in the terrorist attack.

JAC Presents Masked Man before Media KARACHI: The Joint Action Committee of Pakistan International Airlines (PIA), which is spearheading a protest against privatization of the airlines, presented before the media a masked man, who was shown in a video released by the law enforcing agencies this week. This masked man was thought to be a suspect following a shooting incident earlier this week in which two PIA employees were killed.
