KARACHI: Former federal minister Nabil Ahmed Khan Gabol said that he was ready to provide security to Dr Aamir Liaquat Hussain over threats to his life. “I will assign someone from Lyari to safeguard Dr Aamir Liaquat Hussain in my personal capacity if the government refuses to provide security,” Gabol told SAMAA TV. KARACHI: Muttahida Quami Movement (MQM) chief Altaf Hussain announced to quit the party leadership once again and shifted the helm of affairs to Dr. Farooq Sattar. However, entreaties of the party workers forced him to withdraw his decision. It should be mentioned here that Altaf Hussain was addressing the hunger strike camp in progress at Karachi Press Club (KPC). He all of a sudden announced that Farooq Sattar will take over the party henceforth. Shortly afterwards, he discontinued the telephonic address leaving the crowd in shock. KARACHI: Pulling in its horns, Muttahida Qaumi Movement late on Sunday night withdrew its call for a shutterdown strike in Karachi after Rangers, the paramilitary troops warned strict action against forced shutdown of businesses, transport, and educational institutes, Samaa reported. “Following DG Rangers Maj Gen Bilal Akbar’s assurance that he will see that the murderers of our worker Mohammad Hashim are dragged to the dock, we are taking our call back,” the MQM Rabita (Coordination) Committee said in an emergent statement.
