Explosions at Brussels Airport 27 killed BRUSSELS: Three back to back explosions at Brussels airport and metro station early on Tuesday morning killed at least 27 people and injured several others. Cause of the explosions was not immediately clear. Two blasts occurred in the departures lounge of Zaventem airport, killing at least 17 people. PML-N wins NA-153 by-polls MULTAN: Rana Qasim, Pakistan Muslim League-Nawaz (PML-N) candidate, Thursday won by-election for NA-153, Jalalpur Pirwala, by securing 1,07,737 votes. Ghulam Abbas of Pakistan Tehreek-e-Insaf (PTI) emerged as runner-up, getting 33,283 votes. Prime Minister Nawaz Sharif congratulated Qasim on winning the election. The Prime Minister also extended his congratulations and good wishes to the people of Multan for reposing their overwhelming trust in the PML-N’s candidate, a PM House statement said. Bus blast kills at least 15 in Peshawar PESHAWAR: A blast ripped through a bus carrying government employees on Wednesday killing at least 15 and wounding 28 another in Peshawar, Samaa reported Wednesday The explosion took place this morning near Gharbi Police Station in Saddar, a busy shopping district, as the bus was picking up government workers to take them to their offices. At least 15 people were killed and 28 others were wounded, police and rescue officials said.a

Petition filed in SHC against Shahid Afridi KARACHI: A petition was filed in the Sindh High Court (SHC) on Monday, seeking action against Pakistani Twenty20 captain Shahid Afridi for his controversial statements in India. The petition, filed by Amir Advocate, pleaded that the court order Pakistan Cricket Board (PCB) to initiate action against Shahid Afridi for his interview in India. Floored by the Indian reception, Afridi told media in Kolkata:“let me tell you that we (Pakistani players) were more loved by Indians than the fans back home.” Shahid Afridi has damaged Pakistan’s image by making such remarks in an enemy state, it said. ICC announces change of venue for Pakistan-India match NEW DELHI: The International Cricket Council (ICC) on Wednesday confirmed the change of venue for Pakistan-India match scheduled for March 19. “We have shifted the match from Dharamsala to Kolkota. This is the best option available,” ICC chief executive Dave Richardson told a press conference. “Bottom line is security is paramount for us. It is unfortunate that these concerns were raised by the local governments at this time,” he said.

Suicide Blast in Shabqadar Kills Eight SHABQADAR: At least eight people, including two policemen, were killed and more than 15 people others wounded when a blast ripped through a busy market in Charsadda tehsil of Khyber Pakhtunkhwa, Samaa reported Monday. Police claimed that it was a suicide attack that occurred outside a local court in Shabqadar, a small town in Charsadda tehsil nearly 30 kilometres from Peshawar.
